A Christmas Run

A Christmas Run

Reading back over Luke 2 this morning. Just can’t read enough about the birth of Jesus this week. Keep coming back to one word – running.

After the angels appeared to the shepherds and told them about Jesus, scripture says they left RUNNING to find the baby. They didn’t take their time, they didn’t figure out what to do with the sheep, they didn’t make an elaborate plan (goodness knows I love a plan), or even check in with anyone. They just started running in the direction of their Savior.

Where are we running to this morning (and I don’t mean for exercise sake)? Are we running toward Jesus with excitement in our step? Are we just standing around waiting for Him to nudge us along? Do we spend way too much time getting warmed up? Or are we running in the exact opposite direction? Just as the angels announced His presence to the shepherds, He is calling us to Him today.

After the shepherds saw Jesus, scripture says they began telling everyone they knew. Do we share that same enthusiasm, the same excitement to share with others about our Savior, or are we taking our time, making a plan, dodging the issue, or staying put and worrying about being offensive?

My prayer is that we run with renewed excitement toward Jesus every single day, that we allow Him to guide our steps, and that we can’t possibly contain His love but have an overwhelming desire to share it with everyone we meet.

“Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace, goodwill towards men”.

Merry Christmas,
